Some songs are just too good to leave in the past.
We've all got those songs, haven't we?
The ones that take you straight back to a particular time in your life. A night out, a gig, a summer with your mates or an album you played so much you practically wore the thing out. You hear the opening few seconds and suddenly you're right back there. Funny how music does that.
But here's the thing I've always found fascinating about music. Some of the songs we grew up loving weren't actually written or originally recorded by the artists we associate them with. They belonged to somebody else first.
And somewhere along the line, another artist came along, picked up that same song, put their own stamp on it and introduced it to a completely different generation. Sometimes the cover became bigger than the original. Sometimes it sounded so different you'd barely recognise it. And sometimes it was so good that people didn't even realise it was a cover in the first place.
Same song. Different sound. A whole new story. And that's where the idea for The Revival Line came from.

A little bit of musical history you can wear.
I've always believed that the music we listen to and the clothes we wear are connected.
Think about it.
The Mods in the sixties. Punk in the seventies. The Manchester scene in the eighties and the Britpop explosion of the nineties. Every generation had its own sound, its own look and its own attitude. And whilst the music changed, the influence of what came before was never far away. You can hear it in the records and see it in the clothes.
That's something I've always loved about British music culture. Nothing really disappears. It just finds its way back, usually with a different haircut and a new pair of shoes. 🤣
The Revival Line is my little nod to that.
Three designs. Three colours.

Each one inspired by a song that found a second life through another artist. Not necessarily better than the original, just different. A new interpretation that meant something to a new audience.
I wanted the designs to capture a bit of that history without being too obvious about it. Something you'd wear because you liked the artwork, but with a story behind it for those who know.
And if someone stops you and asks about the design, even better. That's another conversation about music started.
Twenty years of creativity. One shared passion.
Now, I'm the first to admit that having an idea in your head and actually getting it onto a T-shirt are two completely different things.
And that's where Greg Smith comes in.
Greg is part of our Underground & Sound community and Creative Partner at Verso Creative, an independent branding and design agency based in Stafford.
Verso are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, which is quite an achievement in an industry where fashions, trends and technology seem to change every five minutes.
Over those two decades, Greg and his fellow Creative Partner Gary Botten have worked with businesses across all sorts of industries, helping them find their identity and tell their stories through design.
What I particularly like about their approach is that it's not just about making something look good. It's about making something that people connect with and remember.
And when you think about it, that's exactly what great music does.
Working with Greg on The Revival Line has been a brilliant experience. He understood what I was trying to achieve from the start, and between us we've turned the original concept into three individual designs, each with its own character.
There's something particularly satisfying about working with people who are already part of what you're building. People who understand the culture, appreciate the music and genuinely want to see the brand succeed.
Greg had this to say about the collaboration:
"The opportunity to support Jason and the U.S! team was just too good to miss. Our whole ethos in helping brands realise their potential is all the more satisfying when their chosen sector is close to our own hearts. Fashion, design, music. What more do you need in life?! We're excited to see what else U.S! unveil in the months to come and will continue to support them in any way we can."
I couldn't have put it better myself.
A massive thank you to Greg and everyone at Verso for getting behind this. It's been an absolute pleasure.
Good music deserves good clothing.
Now, there's no point spending all that time getting the artwork right and then sticking it on a T-shirt that loses its shape after three washes.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. Quality matters.
All three Revival designs are printed on our heavyweight 220 GSM, 100% combed cotton T-shirts, with a regular fit and the kind of quality you'd expect from Underground & Sound.
They're substantial without being over the top, comfortable to wear and designed to become those T-shirts you keep reaching for.
You know the ones. The favourites that somehow always end up at the top of the pile.
That's what I'm aiming for.
And whilst there's a story behind every design, you don't need to know every bit of musical history to appreciate them. If you like the artwork, brilliant. If you recognise the inspiration, even better.
There's no secret handshake required. 🤣
The best songs never really leave us.
I suppose the older you get, the more you realise just how much music has been part of your life.
Certain songs remind you of people you haven't seen in years. Places that aren't there anymore. Nights you'd happily go back and do all over again.
And then, every now and again, you hear a younger artist covering something you grew up with.
You might love it. You might absolutely hate it. You might spend the next ten minutes telling anyone who'll listen that the original was better. 🤣
But that's the beauty of it.
The song is still being played. Someone else is discovering it for the first time, making their own memories and finding their own connection to it.
That's how music survives.
And that's really what I wanted to celebrate with this collection.
Not just three songs or three T-shirt designs, but the idea that something good doesn't stop being good just because the world has moved on.
The Revival Line is available now at Underground & Sound.
Three designs. Three colours. A little bit of history.
The music might belong to another generation.
But what it means to you never gets old. ✊🏼
