Every piece of clothing we put out has a story behind it. A feeling. A memory. A track that made us stop in our tracks, rewind the tape, and live in that moment just a bit longer.
"The Music That Made U.S!" is more than just a playlist, it’s the DNA of Underground & Sound.
It’s the sound of backstage corridors, last buses home, summers soaked in lager, late-night radio and early morning gig hangovers. These are the tunes that shaped the name of our clothing brand, lines and colourways.
Below are just a few of the tracks that inspired our designs, and the reasons why they’ll always have a place in our rotation:
The Substance Line – New Order, "Substance"
Our premium range. No messing about. Named after New Order’s iconic compilation of the same name. Sharp, minimal, bold, like the band, like the line. You don’t get more definitive than this and thats why we chose it.
The Mile High Bucket Hat – Ocean Colour Scene, "100 Mile High City"
That pure 90s Britpop rush. From the Lock, Stock soundtrack to Camden jukeboxes, 100 Mile High City had an energy you couldn’t fake. Everytime we hear this track it just takes U.S! back.
The Better Days Bucket Hat – Ocean Colour Scene, "Better Days"
Another OCS number, but this one’s for the dreamers. Melancholy with a bit of hope on the horizon. Like a British summer haha... but the better days will come - always a dreamer, always a believer.
Colours:
Old Red Wine (Burgundy Substance T-shirts) – The Who, "Old Red Wine"
A deep cut from one of the greatest. We named our burgundy tee after this one — a tribute to legends, to ageing well, and to never losing your bite.
Black Star (Black) – David Bowie, "Blackstar"
One of Bowie’s final transmissions — dark, strange, brilliant. Our black tee needed a name that carried weight. This was the only choice.
Sandstorm (Sandstone) – Cast, "Sandstorm"
That Merseyside sparkle. Cast’s debut single had grit and light all in one. Just like our sandstone colour — low-key but unforgettable.
There’s more to come. Tracks that don’t just sound good — they mean something. Whether it’s the swagger of a guitar riff, a lyric that won’t leave your head, or just a name that sticks with you, each one has found its way into our designs somehow.
So hit play, turn it up, and let it take you where it needs to. This is The Music That Made U.S. — and we reckon you’ll find a bit of yourself in it too.
